    respect for experience and skills

You have a lot to learn. Lesson 1 is that respect is contained within the size of invoice. That is all that matters.

A year doing one thing would be enough for me. I like to have multiple contracts to avoid getting bored so fast.

I'm considering permie as I want more guaranteed home time for a couple of years. Got a small child whose 1st year I mainly missed due to being the other end of the country Mon-Fri and don't want that again for the next one. The permie rate is £20k more than the role I'd left to go contracting a couple of years back but it will be less than the contracting rate. That being said, another contract would definitely involve travel and paying for hotels so I'm willing to take the hit for a couple of years. Will make my mind up at the end of year.

as in they have no replacement for me, so stop acting like you own me!

Respect is not a personal thing - I am talking about being professional and treating a contractor as a contractor because I have no interest in the company going forwards.....

Did you find your contracts finished or you walked? If you walked what were the things that made you walk?

I've only ever walked from one contract, after about 6 or 7 months.

Didn't like the client, the project, the people or the location, so I turned down a six month extension.

+1. While a client wants me I'll settle for the devil I know rather than the devil I don't. Mind you I will work anywhere as 18 months at Caudwell would prove to anyone old enough to know the place.

Just finessed a move to another area of client co within the same program to help keep it interesting. Also means 80% WFH, which will be nice after a year and a half working away in the week
