PS I was born in London and have lived and worked here all my life apart from stints in Basle, Frankfurt, Berlin and Sheffield. So I do have some benchmarks.
    Again, I rest my case.

I was born in Spain and have lived in Vitoria, Barcelona, Naples, Rio de Janeiro, Houston Tx, Mexico DF, Marseille, Oxford and, er London.

    ...and you call me "provincial".

Provinciality is a state of mind.
I've been to many of the cities on that list, some are very provincial, so living there would not make you any less so.
      Hard Brexit now!

Well it's obviously a sockie*, but I thought I would keep it for a pet.

Perhaps you need to guard against arrogance, particularly as you appear to be doing exactly the same thing. My family are London born & bred, I lived here for some of my childhood, and I've lived and worked here for the better part of 20 years on and off since, in a lot of different areas from grim ones to some of the best. I'm well aware of both the good and bad that London has to offer.

It would appear I've lived and/or worked in a few more places than you then. My personal theory is that people are much the same here as everywhere else, but the relatively high level of environmental stress predisposes them to behaving less pleasantly & considerately towards their fellow citizens.

London does have nice areas, but the vast majority of it is overpriced, overcrowded, dirty and full of arseholes. I'd suggest that an objective assessment of prices and the ratio of people to facilities would support the first two points, and any fool can see that London is grubby and there is rubbish all over the place. I'm not entirely sure how you count arseholes.

I'd probably still rank it in my personal top 10 places to live though. I do actually live here, after all.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

London is one of the great cities of the world and has loads of great stuff in it however the vast majority of London is overpriced, overcrowded, dirty and generally a bit tulipe. It's also full of arseholes. So it's not actually that great a place to live & work day to day.
Compared to a lot of other cities I've visited round the world London is one of the cleanest. My parents always comment when they come and visit on how clean London is compared to when they lived there in the 70s - those coal fireplaces couldn't have helped.

Can't argue with it being overpriced, overcrowded and some parts are a bit tulip though.

But having lived and worked in many cities around the world, provincial or otherwise, means I have been taken in a broad spectrum of different cultures, been exposed to different viewpoints on life etc. This does not lend to one having a provincial state of mind.

..and you have the gall to throw Sheffield into the mix!

Some delightful countryside around Sheffield if you like that kind of thing.
