The reason why the world population is stabilising is because childhood mortality has declined hugely all over the world. People used to have loads of kids because some would inevitably die. Now they don't - it's one of the biggest changes in the last 50 years.

World Population is Stabilizing | Global Consensus
So fewer kids dying means that fewer children will be born? - yeah I can just see your intellect shining.

you have heard of exponential growth ?

If 10 women have five kids each you get 50 kids roughly half of which will be female.

if 25 women have 4 kids each you have 100 kids.

If 50 women have 3 kids each you get 150 kids.

    etc.

previously that was taken care of by 3 of the five dying or the mother dying in childbirth, now they all live & reproduce. Now if they get more comfortable and feel safe they may go down to 3 children in 50 - 100 years like the Europeans did, but as we keep arming them I doubt that will happen any time soon.

    Or Cultural effect?

Many cultures still chop bits off their penises or vulva because some idiot 2000 - 5000 years ago said it was a good idea. Both Catholicism & Islam promote large families if they haven't stopped chopping bits off their babies why do you think they are going to stop having kids?

Of course you could just attack the person rather than dealing with the argument.

Thanks for digging - I do find the less cognitively gifted have a curious urge to show off how thick they are.
Yes that is exactly what I mean - what has happened is that the tail off in child mortality has resulted in families all over the world having fewer children. A process that happened in the UK too over the beginning of the 20th century when working-class families who routinely had 5-8 children now have much less.

But do keeping exposing yourself as a thicko.

Edit: Here's a suggestion, instead of posting your puerile opinions all over the web like some kind of diarrhoea, why not do some reading, maybe about demographics, about what's been happening in the last generation and how populations stabilise. You know, make good on some of that education you so obviously missed out on.
Your laughable post above is not even worth looking at.

At the turn of the 20th century there weren't the options there are now (abortions, certain forms of contraception), so it was more of a gamble getting your leg over. Nowadays pregnancy in couples is much more planned and eve if an unwanted pregnancy does occur there are options.

If only that was the case.

The link between mortality and broader demographic change seems weak.

What makes a bigger difference, Mr Demombynes argues, is some combination of broad economic growth and specific public-health policies, notably the increase in the use of insecticide-treated bednets (ITNs) which discourage mosquitoes, which cause malaria.

from African child mortality: The best story in development | The Economist as I can't be arsed to search for the actual papers.

I will accept that its the flip side of the equation but falls in birth rates have a lot more to do with education and economic options.

Experts? I was trying to find the credentials of the author, it just appeared to be a basic wordpress site to me.

On the one hand I have some data presented to me in a graph by an authority on the subject.
On the other hand I have some common or garden internet twats posting crap.

It's pointless, the great SAS has decided and regardless what we say then we are wrong. (and cretins)

SASworld population is going to plateau soon because conditions are getting better despite the fact we have an exponential climb now and it took us a few hundred years of prosperity and safety to get used to smaller families.

Population sizes are directly related to food and sensation of safety. In Africa food supply is increasing but safety overall is not.
