They could use guerilla marketing tactics; get people to hand out flyers with the fron cover outside the shops to attract customers to go in and buy the rag. They could even end up selling more that way.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
Sudden loss of 6.3% of your sales can be fatal to many businesses, without doubt more supermarkets would follow this, that's not free market at all.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostAnd as Co-op's market share is 6.3%, there is plenty of choice around.
Perhaps they should switch to showing well dressed models on the front page with an invitation to buy it and see the same model with less clothes inside?Comment

Maybe homeless guys should start selling those lads mags in front of super markets where they got banned?Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostThey could use guerilla marketing tactics; get people to hand out flyers with the fron cover outside the shops to attract customers to go in and buy the rag. Just because co-op accounts for 6% of sales of such magazines, does not mean sales will fall 6% if they stop selling them - some fraction of co-op customers will buy those magazines elsewhere. Probably quite a large fraction.Originally posted by AtW View PostSudden loss of 6.3% of your sales can be fatal to many businesses, without doubt more supermarkets would follow this, that's not free market at all.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

No, it does not mean that, but losing sales access to a big retailer that has got 6.3% marketshare AND risking that others would follow is not exactly the kind of news any business person would want to get.Originally posted by d000hg View PostJust because co-op accounts for 6% of sales of such magazines, does not mean sales will fall 6% if they stop selling them - some fraction of co-op customers will buy those magazines elsewhere. I doubt they are massively profitable in the first place.
Could not they just mandate that those mags are put on the top shelve or something?Comment

Men's magazines objectify women or talk about fishing or golf.
Women's magazines teach women how to be objectified or talk about knitting or cookery.
Can't remember the last time I bought a magazine.Comment

Surely they could just put them on the top shelf instead of setting them out on the stands at children's eye level, or are they just stupid?
A women's magazine recently:

A men's magazine:
“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

Sometimes a company will still put ethics over maximising profits, even in 2013.Originally posted by AtW View PostNo, it does not mean that, but losing sales access to a big retailer that has got 6.3% marketshare AND risking that others would follow is not exactly the kind of news any business person would want to get.

Can't remember the last time I bought a magazine.Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.
