Men only golf courses

Its not capitalism, if there were a demand for male (and they were widely accepted without feminist activity) or female only gyms they would exist (women only gyms are quite common) and no one would mind because you get what you pay for. I can't choose not to pay my council tax because my council subsidised gym decides to give one gender a better deal. I can decide not to join all male non subsidised golf club, females can choose to form an all female golf club or buy one and convert to a women's only club. -
I don't think a lot of the women who go to these sessions are worried about being ogled. I think it is often the big fat swamp-donkeys who do to these. They are not worried about being ogled by the opposite sex as being judged. If a bit of my tax was used in a "discriminatory" manner in which to help these people to lose weight then I am all for it. Obesity related illnesses cost the NHS billions each year, anything that helps reduce this should surely be seen as a positive step.Comment

Yep, blog here talking about that. It must be a problem for puny men too though.Originally posted by Ketchup View PostI don't think a lot of the women who go to these sessions are worried about being ogled. Actually I think Mich's idea of a 'noobs' session would probably work well.
As far as council funding goes, I think they have a duty to ensure that their facilities appeal to as many people as possible - if having ladies sessions gets more people through the door they're doing their job.Comment

Women judge far more than men. I have a female friend who loves going to strip clubs. The strippers always give funny looks as they think another woman will notice cellulite.Originally posted by Ketchup View PostThey are not worried about being ogled by the opposite sex as being judged.
Men look at a big girl and think "large shirt potatoes - waaahhheeyyy".
Women want women only sessions just to be sexist as its allowed to abuse men (e.g. the family courts). Like its allowed to be racist against white people.Comment

If there was a men only gym I doubt they will get anybody joining them.

Not sure if you read the article, but abolishing ladies-only sessions is just one of a few options to end discrimination. So it's misleading to say that's the objective.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostIf the result of abolishing ladies only sessions was reduced gym membership and therefore increased prices, would you still be for it?
I agree there should be women-only sessions. (Rules out 1 option.)
I suspect there are men who are self-conscious, but probably not enough to justify men-only session. (Rules out another option.)
A discount for men is the only remaining option, I think. However it would actually be fairer to charge a premium for access to women-only sessions, so women who didn't want those didn't have to pay more.
Though the amounts involved are so small that it does all seem to be a bit petty.Comment

You can't choose not to pay your CC because you're fat slob who has no intention of using the subsidised gym either, are you going to say their discriminating against the lazy?Originally posted by vetran View PostI can't choose not to pay my council tax because my council subsidised gym decides to give one gender a better deal.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I had a discussion with my sister about Wimbledon paying women the same as men, despite working less. I don't agree with it. To be frank, the mens final generates the most income as well, so on all grounds, it shouldn't have equal pay.
Making any place men, or women, only, is discriminatory, and defending it is simply dressing that up. If a woman feels uncomfortable with men looking at her, then life's going to get pretty tough, for when I met my wife, I stared at her for a long time before I plucked up the courage to ask her out. That's life unfortunately, and I also happen to know plenty of women who will admit to letching at men too. It's a simplistic line to state, I don't want to go to the gym if men are there as they will look at me; it's presumptuous for a start, for I have seen plenty of flesh at the gym that I would rather have not seen.Comment
