HP in Bristol?Originally posted by MattFromEarth View PostI do cardiff-Bristol-Cardiff daily by car and it's a bit of a bind. I work in filton
And the traffic on the a38 round Aztec
West is seriously congested these days.
Typically 20 minutes to do 1/2 mile. If
Your in the city it can quite easily take
You an hour to cross it during rush hour.
The variable speed limits on the m4 and
Regular accidents can also seriously lengthen the journey
I did Llantrisant to HP for a year. Did end up getting on my nerves....
I used to go M32 though.
One good thing was they wanted a 7am start once a week or so on rota. I used to end up volunteering and doing this 2-3 times week (and then leaving early). My record was 43 mins at 6-30am.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

OK. So got the gig.
Might do a bit of both to be honest. Having driven there for the interview today it looks like (traffic allowing) its going to be about 1hr 10min drive. 60 miles each way plus £6.20 on the bridge.
Train, obviously, is not quite so flexible but I reckon 10 mins drive to station (£5 car parking), 55mins to 70mins train (£18.50 return), then 2 mile taxi to client (£?). Deffo looks like a bit longer this option.
Can see me doing a bit of a split. Car few days train few days....
Of course, wonder if its easier to pay the train etc myself and still claim 45p per mile? Probably ;-)Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

There's lots of local trains from Cardiff Central to all sort of obscure little corners. I know the trains themselves are pants, making FGW's three-car commuter cans look positively idyllic, but they are cheap and efficient.Originally posted by psychocandy View PostOK. So got the gig.

Yep, train and bike/walk for me. I only use the car if I can't use the train."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

Until you're the prick listening to music in the Quiet coach and annoying everyoneOriginally posted by tranceporter View PostHeadphones are indispensable. Even Quiet coaches have people yammering and yapping, without realising what coach they are in. Usually takes someone prodding them to shut up. In warmer weather, none of cattle classes have air conditioning, so it feels quite stuffy. Apparently heat does something to their engines
Also, some people think train travel is their personal time of the day to catch up with everyone in their life on the phone, and sitting around them is a nightmare without music/candy crush.
Anyway I'd normally be all for the train, but the extra hassles of changing might swing it. Bike is an option but when you get sweaty or it rains, then what? On a very busy train, do you want to be the berk with a bike?
Can you get 1st-class on the train? Check out season/monthly tickets too, in your train office.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Quite true. But I do not use stock Apple earphones. They leak music everywhere.Originally posted by d000hg View PostUntil you're the prick listening to music in the Quiet coach and annoying everyone
