Funnily enough, when I was at university, there was a poster in the SU that said "Go on, become homosexual", so the idea that sexual preference is a choice is not new, and at one time was part of leftist sexual politics.
However, I believe that some people are more homosexually inclined than others - that they have no control over that. I also think some people do change their sexual preference over time, which is, apparently, a bit controversial. In my original posting, there was a which implies the statement was intended to be ironic, and made in order to provoke, rather than as a statement of belief.
However, as it has already been established that you're a literary ignoramus, I suppose it's only reasonable to expect you to not be capable of understanding irony.
