No, but I never said "I'm not against secular ideologies at all, but I think it's unfair to claim that we'd be better off without the secular ideologies". Any irrational believe be it religious or secular is a bad thing.

And of course priests abuse altar boys because of their religion, not because they were pedos who exploited privileged positions... if they weren't priests they would be teachers... there is a bit of a time-bomb about school music teachers from things I hear, who obviously are often in 1:1 situations with kids.

Tell us what is 'rational', and what the limits of rationality are. Having given us your definition, is there anything 'irrational' that is of value?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Rationality is surely a human construct of no more value than anything else. It's irrational to post on CUK as a series of sockies...

Indeed. Rationality, or reason, has almost not reached its ultimate definition and is bounded by many things; available knowledge, context, etcetera, and it's quite possible to construct 'rational' arguments to defend contradictory positions. In fact it's quite possible to construct rational arguments for defending an 'irrational' position. Kant had some worthwhile things to say about reason and the limits of reason, but that might be a bit difficult for those who are still struggling with the Mr Men books.

Rational thinking and scientific methods have enabled us to fly airplanes, build computers go into space, cure many diseases. None of these things came from religion despite its outrageous claims.

May I refer to honourable posters to my sig?

If a 'religion' is defined to be a system of ideas that contains unprovable statements, then Gödel taught us that mathematics is not only a religion, it is the only religion that can prove itself to be one. --John Barrow

Is it rational to believe maths? Especially Pi.

Yes because scientific rational experiments can confirm Mathematical concepts/identities are valid.
