There's a theme here. It's not the first time The Independent has let some bigoted crank loose on their pages.

They may call themselves Independent, but impartial they ain't when it comes to the Monarchy or the Papacy.

I have a rule of thumb about these things. If a country calls itself 'democratic republic' it'll probably be ruled by a family of despots. If someone says 'honest, mate', he's probably lying so if a newspaper calls itself something generally seen as positive, like 'Independent', well, it says enough.
