Just after posting that look what appeared on the front page of BBC News:

BBC News - About 42% of marriages end in divorce

Yes, but homosexuals have always had problems using things in the manner in which they were intended to be used.

          d000hg, there are many:

Marriage is a revered institution, and many homosexuals revere it too. Or are you saying as they are gay, their marriages will obviously fail, for they're not really in love, they're gay?

The church has never faced the issues it does now. Even well into the 20th Century the church had massive influences on communities. Now it doesn't, and most people see the church as an irrelevance. I believe the state is now using this general apathetic attitude towards religion, being completely out of step with how the world is now, is a good time to be introducing these new laws. The church has never faced problems like they face now. The reaction to the abuse of mainstream churches, the apathy towards religion, the realisation religion is at the forefront of most of the worlds issues are all factors, but this will really do churches damage, as we've changed; homosexuality is not a dirty word anymore; it's mainstream, this generation have no issues with it. The church does, and this is at odds with the way the world is moving.

Sources please? From the (extremely limited) information I can find online it appears the opposite is true from what you say. As the church in Afghanistan in underground it's very difficult to get any accurate information, and of course there's the chance of bias in any reporting, but it appears that growth in Afghanistan is one of the fastest in the world. And yes, I accept that this source will be met with extreme scepticism, but please feel free to provide any contradictory information you can:

That may well be true but that does not mean to say the church is wrong just because it is perceived as being "old fashioned". I am not a fan of the church, I just side with them more on this stance and I am relatively young (in my 20s still).

More organisations and groups should speak out rather than remain silent on the issue.

LOL I have gay friends and none of them are concerned about the ability to get married in fact it was more the recognition of legally being together that most sought

                    Pakistan's minority population is shrinking

The government indulges in massive persecution of Christians.

Apart from emigration, the Iraqi Christians are also declining due to lower rates of birth and higher death rates than their Muslim compatriot

I could go on, but the long and the short of it, is that it is in decline. In Afghanistan, it is a serious crime to try and become a christian, with people being jailed because of it. There are no churches, and to even look at the bible will land you in Jail.

In the UK, the latest census shows a huge decline, as well as in the States and other western countries like Germany, Spain, France etc.

                      Sorry, should that not read
                      Fewer marriages ending in divorce

In 2011, 10.8 people divorced per thousand married people, compared with 12.9 in 2001.

The findings showed that there continues to a "general decline" in divorces
So I'll edit what you've said:

Having said that, the rate of divorces are in decline, in a period in time in which we've become more liberal, I guess I didn't see this coming, so posted some tulip instead.
