Couldn't read that article, but:
When we weren't in the EU previously we had a benevolent Empire/Commonwealth full of natural resources they wanted to sell to us. India and China hadn't risen.
People are living longer. This is going to increase the social care bill hugely. I really don't see a way to pay for this other than raising taxes. Any politician who as a minimum doesn't start discussing this isn't doing their job.Comment
