Absolutely strains on the NHS caused by an ageing population. The patient was diagnosed with Typhoid and has voted to have chemotherapy to cure himself.Last edited by BlasterBates; 12 December 2016, 12:38.I'm alright Jack -

People are living longer. This is going to increase the social care bill hugely. I really don't see a way to pay for this other than raising taxes.

Thats the crux of the problem... its a big circle jerk of lies....
a) Politicians need to be popular to get voted in
b) Politicians get voted in
c) Reports come out... less people are having kids to pay future tax, people living longer, more people need benifits of every kind, need more social car
d) Country cant afford all of that, and they know it, so they have two options....
e1) Tell the truth - people have to work until they die, taxes have to go up, benefits have to go down - Nobody likes this, so jump to (f)
e2) Lie. Its all good. Public debt will be paid off in a few years time, everything is rosy, give message 'money money to benefits' - everybody likes this, its a lie of course, but jump to (a)
f) Politician is voted out by public, leftie-lier gets voted in instead
g) Go back to (a)
I vote for a logans run type solution, or futurama suicide booths.Comment

Sooner or later the thorny old issue of euthanasia will come to the fore. If we nudge people towards voluntary then we may be able to delay the compulsory for a good period.
Mind you, knowing our political classes, they would probably still push ahead with the tax rises as well. Maybe we could start with some of them? The HoL is a target rich environment IMHO.

So, are you saying that it's not possible to be a leftie and tell the truth, or that it's not possible to be a leftie and a politician?Originally posted by jonnyboy View Post

There are lefties who are consistent and there are lefties who are virtue signallers. It is not a question of "telling the truth" it is a question of honesty.Originally posted by WTFH View PostSo, are you saying that it's not possible to be a leftie and tell the truth, or that it's not possible to be a leftie and a politician?
For example lefties who have consistency and are honest include Peter Tatchell, Brendan I'ONeill, Frank Field, kate Hoey and Rod Liddle and possibly Alan JohnsonLet us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment
