      Jachtschotel;

      stewed game covered with red cabbage, covered with mashed potatoes and then baked until the mash is brown.

            Hmm, in view of norrahe's spelling alert, perhaps that should be spag bol.

            I always somehow pictured the "g" near the start of the word, but in fact it is "Bolognese".

              Yep, soups and stews here as well. I made a load of chicken stock yesterday.

              Tonight it's sausage and onion with mash on top, plum crumble for afters. Second helping of crumble tomorrow, cold out of the fridge.

                Nice combination. There's a nice German dish Erbsensuppe, which is thick pea soup with lots of chunks of smoked ham. It's a complete meal in itself and good preparation for watching a footie or rugby match in cold weather.

                  Beef Stew with dumplings or mash or in a giant yorkie pud
                  Toad in the Hole with onion gravy
                  Chips and Gravy
                  Any sort of suet pudding but especially Sussex Pond Pudding

                  Have just scoffed a couple of toasted crumpets with strawberry jam and a mug of tea

                    This is good with fresh bread.

                    Curried pumpkin and bacon soup

                    need to leave it for a day for the curry powder to work.
