this depends if we are led to believe that the james bond we see now is (in fictional terms) the same James Bond who appeared in the first films then he cannot be black as people do not simply change from white to black or vice versa(No michael jackson jokes please).

However if James Bond is just psuedanym (sp?) for the agent whose code name is 007 then the colour of the skin matters not..

Oh, and there was a singer who changed from black to white wasn't there? Wasn't he a kiddyfiddler too?

Every blokes favourite Bond, Connery, last did an official film over 40 years ago. Moore's last raised eyebrow was in 85. The cinema going audience is not who it originally was. I'd hazard that most who are watching in the cinema now won't remember past Brosnan. The target audience has changed hence the chavving up.

As xog says, all the films are shown regularly. My son is 18 and he has seen most of them, so saying he won't remember Connery as Bond because he hasn't made one for 40 years is simply untrue.

The latest films aren't based on Fleming's books though, just loosely based on the concept.

The next Bond will be Indian or have strong Indian roots.

They have a bigger audience for films than in the West. So it will make loads of money especially for the sponsors.

Yes, but in that case there's something a bit funny about the timeline because Judi Dench has been M since the Pierce Brosnan ones, and I'm sure she referred to her predecessor in one of them, so it's assumed to be a continuation, yet in Casino Royal Bond is a newly licensed double-0 agent.

I don't really expect it to make sense, you just have to suspend disbelief over the change of actors. At least Dr Who builds it into the plot.
