why are the doom mongers worried sick that temperatures have flat lined for the last sixteen years ?
    1. They haven't. Here is the data on which that claim is based

    Wood for Trees: Interactive Graphs

(Hint: Not everything you read on sockpuppetmaster Watts blog quoting the Daily Mail is true.)

    2. 16 years is not long enough to smooth out natural variation. See the Judith Curry piece BB linked to above. That'll be the one in which she accuses the Mail of misquoting her, the quote in question being the 'climate models are deeply flawed' one that BB liked so much.

I don't suppose either of you will retract or apologise for misquoting Dr Curry. So it goes.

16 years of flat lining temperatures are not enough for us to say that the warming has stopped

but 15 years of warming are enough to say CAGW is real 15 yrs is enough noaa

....but overall she thinks it's a good article, it frames the debate well.

Hard to see that if she's "accusing" the reporter she would then say it's a good article.

          Absolutely...

The simulations rule out (at the 95% level) zero trends for intervals of 15 yr or more, suggesting that an observed absence of warming of this duration is needed to create a discrepancy with the expected present-day warming rate.”
17 years and counting. Every year that goes by so does the egg on the face spread.

The claim of a meaningful flat period is about as accurate as the earlier claim that the US did not experience a record-breaking warm summer this year ...

118 warm records broken in the summer ??

              wowser

in the usa there have been over 1100 COLD records broken in the last 2 weeks alone

why do you only highlight the data that supports a one sided story ? the real story is much more interesting

Records being broken in both directions is surely at least as strong an argument for climate change as warming only, anyway.

118 is the ranking. Muppet. The clue is in the word 'National'.

it's not my fault if you post misleading headers as well as misleading data
