i just checked my globe.
all the continents are fat at the top and pointy at bottom.
they have been dripped on, by some sort of hot-wax-like process

but the facts are, the northern ice cap is a bit down the southern ice cap is a bit up
Remember that the poles are mirror images; the Antarctic is a landmass surrounded by ocean, the Arctic OCean is almost landlocked, there's a lay discussion of the reasons for the barely significant increase in Antarctic sea ice, and "why it is in*cred*ibly misleading to equate the two records" here
Antarctic sea ice reaches greatest extent so late in season, 2nd largest extent on record - Capital Weather Gang - The Washington Post
and here

here is an interesting puzzle for you.
If CAGW will cause disasters of biblical proportions, seas rising many metres, mass starvation, mass numbers of refugees, disease, smaller fish, bigger fish and other horrors
why are the doom mongers worried sick that temperatures have flat lined for the last sixteen years ?
you would have thought they would be happy to be proven wrong

This post typifies how dishonest the debate is on Global Warming:
Australian Filmmaker knocks back Al Gore’s request for firestorm footage « JoNova: Science, carbon, climate and tax
Basically Al Gore wants to get images of dust storm picking up a bush fire, which has nothing to do with global warming just push his message ( and his business interests ).
Scientists deliberately remain silent on the effect of natural ocean cycles and it's affect on both ice caps, as we can see it's different in both cases and has more to do with ocean currents than air temperature.
