You'd have to ask Nick. It was also near a rather nice pub he recommends, with hanging baskets.

And there was me thinking it was only the brits that liked to queue. Seems we have at least taught the rest of the world some manners.

There are massive variations in ethnic / national make up when you compare the cities to the shires and market towns. It seems most of the foreigners are city based, whereas the brits have all moved out. Is it students I wonder? The street im renting a flat in is made up of mostly overseas students. (who were not bought up knowing its rude to stand in the street shouting till 2am) Ignoreing the student visa debate... the universtities are located in major population areas and hence people come to study and then stay on for a few years, get some skills and then maybe heads home with a big bag of cash. Or often stay?

That and theres loads of tulipe jobs in cities like hotels and fast food and cleaning which the lazy workshy british dolites cant be bothered to do, but to someone from overseas £200/wk is the equivalent to 2 to 4 months salary back home. Seriously!

Seriously the big multinationals can make even more offshore and pay even less UK tax
FTFY - £800 per month to keep your family? Give up benefits and earn 30% less. they are out of work not trying for sainthood. Using cheap foreign labour to undercut local labour costs then accuse the residents of being lazy is part one of the Globalisation playlist..

Edward Gibbon - The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, he describes how the Roman army became lax in discipline and exercise. "It is the just and important observation of Vegetius, that the infantry was invariably covered with defensive armor, from the foundation of the city to the reign of the emperor Gratian. The relaxation of discipline, and the disuse of exercise, rendered the soldiers less able, and less willing, to support the fatigues of the service; they complained of the weight of the armor, which they seldom wore: and they successively obtained the permission of laying aside both their cuirasses and their helmets.
            .....................
The cavalry of the Goths, the Huns, and the Alani, had felt the benefits, and adopted the use, of defensive armor; and, as they excelled in the management of missile weapons, they easily overwhelmed the naked and trembling legions, whose heads and breasts were exposed, without defence, to the arrows of the barbarians. The loss of armies, the destruction of cities, and the dishonor of the Roman name, ineffectually solicited the successors of Gratian to restore the helmets and cuirasses of the infantry. The enervated soldiers abandoned their own, and the public defence; and the pusillanimous indolence may be considered as the immediate cause of the downfall of the empire." (Vol. III, pp. 271-272).

Hmmm, may well be. But there's a big shopping emporium in Mile End Road that looks very similar.

If they can afford to do it AND send money home, locals can afford it too - they are entitled to the same benefits to top up low income, etc.

As I said, it's xenophobic rather than racist. The fact London is highly multi-cultural is not exactly news, surely 20 years ago it was already full of foreign people doing the cleaning and such?

Oh and you're a cretin for not considering that they are most likely tourists who are queueing because the I-phone won't be released back where they come from for a while.
