Dunno. I don't think the Germans were in on it; I think it was one of those not-quite-democracies in Eastern Europe where dodgy agents find cheapo web programmers who'll work for one bowl of onion soup a day

Unless you were a wide mouthed cockney barrow boy working in the city, finding a decent paying job was the pits. Sadly the country was going to the dogs and I didn't want to be a part of it anymore.

Yep, she did, by forcing me to go abroad to find work. I thank her for giving me a much better lifestyle than I would ever have had in the UK. BTW, I bought this Thatcher t-shirt years ago, back in the 80's, on one of the march for jobs

I have worked with a lot of ex-miners, who ended up in very cushy above ground, nice air conditioned office jobs. But they will still go on about how she destroyed the mines as if this was a bad thing. When you delve a bit deeper, you find all of them had a claim for some pretend injury or illness from being down t'pit. Pure parasites.

Luckily I don't consider myself an expat having only lived in the UK for around a third of my life but I think that has given me a slightly broader experience than most suburban UK'ites who spout on an on...

(There are German contractor forums but they're a bit drier although one used to have any excellent black list of agencies, definitely a case of name and shame there!)
