When Thatcher closed down the mines she didn't realise that the mines in Wales were more than just jobs. She was, in effect, closing down towns/villages/communities.

The unions had to be broken. But I would like the mines to be reopened. Better than importing gas.

What do you suggest? that rest of us subsidise them for the rest of their lives and future generations? people dont seem to get it. It is almost as if they believe that money grows on trees. I have news it just doesnt. These "communities" were "protected" by monopolistic situations that forced the rest of us to work in order thet they can cling on to their "way of life".

The rest of the world has had to adapt to change so why shouldnt they?

What is wrong with that? I am probably vote Labour next time as my local MP has been so good about s58.

Indeed. My aunt and uncle are very keen Labour supporters from Liverpool. They had to leave after Hatton got involved. He cared nothing for the working class. Or for anyone really other than himself. Animal farm....
