They seemed to slightly gloss over the fairly important detail that now the Daleks never heard of their greatest foe.
was sort of obvious, but in a subtle way, always the best type if you don't slap your head when the Belgian explains it then its not believable.

Dr Who positively danced round the room while the Daleks shouted 'DR WHO????' it was hardly subtle.

I didn't like it at all, but I'm a massive Dalek fan and just thought it totally out of character for them.

(My favourite Dr Who's are the movies with Peter Cushing)

That said, the kids love it and that's all that really matters! I heard loads of the little swines talking about daleks this morning on my way to work.

I will confess I have never got into Dr Who, I will watch it if nothing else is on (mainly the Tennant Years) but I decided to sit down and watch this as the masses were all burbling about it, it was OK but as I started watching about 1am I fell asleep, not because I wasn't enjoying it but because I was knackard (yeay Insomnia cracked), will have another stab at it and keep watching this series as I thing they might be doing something special in the lead up to the 50th Anniversary.

Yes but right at the end. It's kind of a big deal!

Amy and Rory sent back to 1938. They die in their 80s. That must be sometime in the late 1980s early 1990s. So what's preventing the doctor from visiting them then?

So he has a time machine that can take him anywhere, any when. Where are his companions from, modern day London.

Wouldnt it be nice to actually have companions out of time from somewhere interesting, you know someone that actually had to act rather than two people who live in modern day London.

He said it would 'create a fixed point in time' and this would prevent him visiting them.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever as I would have thought a fixed point in time would be easier to plot a 4d vector to than a floating point.

Fixed points were events and/or individuals who had such long-standing impacts on the timeline that no one, not even Time Lords, dared interfere with their natural progression. The Doctor, free to interfere in alien invasions and save planets in most cases, could neither interfere nor interact with these fixed points, out of fear of damaging reality.

Nice theory, but she's Scottish. Ostensibly both Amy and Rory grew up in a small rural town. They only moved to London when the Doctor gave them a house. The whole thing is mostly filmed in and around Cardiff.

Doesn't he know he's part of a fantasy, so with enough narrative pressure, he can do whatever he likes? Or is he just a wuss?

Anyway - he's already destroyed and recreated the universe at least once. Rather like Dave Lister.
