The real problem is that your heroine Maggie decided wrongly that the country could survive on services alone. This has proved to be a mistake. The reason Germany hasn't got a sub-normal underclass is that they are kept busy making things which Germany sells and which generates income that makes the country rich.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostI am talking about the poorer sections of society. As far I can see on health and education the private sector is not causing any problems for the less affluent of society. The problem I am trying to discuss is that it would presumably be quite good if the poor could enjoy the same services that richer people like you, scoobos and myself enjoy?
I cannot see that sorting out the problems of capitalism will do anything to help the poor. If anything the crash of capitalism has made us think long and hard about how we are spending taxpayers money. I will add that the only way to stimulate wealth creation is to incentivise people by reducing tax and bureaucracy so it is not unreasonable to demand value for money from tax rather than look upon tax as the lefties do as a punishment.
Reducing tax and bureaucracy is not going to make people suddenly make cars, vacuum cleaners, ball bearings, gear systems etc.Hard Brexit now!

Don't forget that Mrs T created welfare dependency. Mass unemployment then give everyone over 50 an extra £10 a week on sickness benefit to keep them off the figures.Originally posted by sasguru View PostThe real problem is that your heroine Maggie decided wrongly that the country could survive on services alone. This has proved to be a mistake. Can I add forgetful to my list?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostLet us forget that you are quite happy to feed off the fat of capitalism whilst at the same time dishing it and supporting the state (despite its failures).
We had this one last week, I work for a charity and I effectively donate money to them, with the way it works out.
Don't you remember our conversation last week on this forum ? Or is it more a case of you just looking at "alien" opinions and then mentally saying "NOISE" and preparing a retort?
I support public services and despite thinking others have whatever right to choose , I would not use private education (my wife is a state teacher, you know, one of these people who don't equate Money to success) - and I'll leave the healthcare point alone.Last edited by Scoobos; 2 August 2012, 13:23.Comment

So poverty is all about what people in work are doing for a job ?Originally posted by sasguru View PostThe real problem is that your heroine Maggie decided wrongly that the country could survive on services alone. This has proved to be a mistake. If you are an IT bod earning £50K a year working in a bank in the UK and there is a German production manager at Porsche earning an equivalent amount the chances are that there will be a much greater underclass in the country of the IT worker than in the manufacturing country
I thought I was thickLet us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

So you are switching the argument over to a spurious analysis of the causes of unemployment instead of engaging in a debate about what to do about it .Originally posted by Old Greg View PostDon't forget that Mrs T created welfare dependency. I notice that the lefties point blank refuse to countenance any argument about reforming the public sector or improving the lives of the poor.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

But no Sas, you miss the point, it is going to do exactly that!Originally posted by sasguru View Post.

When there's nothing for free and its dog eat dog, people who haven't had a free state education, health services - will suddenly gain INCENTIVE and magically develop all the skills.
Or.
"doing more with less" we wont need any teachers or doctors, as we will ensure you dont need to be qualified to do these jobs - so they'll do it and market forces will ..... yaddda yadda yadda.
Seriously though - Sas post QFT.Comment

So tell me who you think created welfare dependency. You always blame the left (whoever you think they are).Comment

By forcing them all to move to the South East, tearing familes apart , destroying local culture, generations of history, and ruining entire towns. "Because that's where the work is" - lining the pockets of the superclass.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View Postimproving the lives of the poor.
