Sadly I don't seem able to rep anyone. Especially since it's now public, randomly using up rep seems counter-productive.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I think half the reason for the infraction is because its MF in the video.
Originally posted by administrator View PostA quick rep update for you all. I have made some pretty big changes to rep and been too hectic to let you all know but think you all deserve some kind of explanation...
Due to the initial weightings of the rep scores, which some of you worked out, the system was unfair in awarding a lot of rep giving power to posters with a high post count - this rep giving power led to other users getting high rep giving power due to the weighting that rep points had on rep giving power. This led to the battle for rep supremacy.
I don't like the fact that the rep system was used to bully certain forum posters and that it helped cliques develop, neither of which is good for a public forum. The forum has two aims from my perspective, to enable us long-standing users to have somewhere to post cr4p and insult each other to help pass the day but also, more importantly, to help new contractors and geeks in general find somewhere they can ask questions and get answers from people who know what they are taking about.
Firstly I was not amused that VB was stupid enough to put a unique identifier that allowed the rep-giver to be identified but Freamon's MF framer really did give me a laugh. It made it clear that rep should be open IMO and I am happy that no-one can now hide behind rep comments or be fooled into thinking that others made comments that they hadn't etc. On trawling through the rep comments from the last year or two it made me uneasy that certain upstanding members of the contracting community could have given others some pretty nasty rep comments and if I simply turned the ability to see these comments on it could cause some bad feeling so my best option was to delete all rep comments and start again.
When I reset all rep I saw very quickly that those with high post counts were again starting to dominate rep and following suggestions from some of these threads and from PM messages I tweaked all of the rep setting to level the scores that end users pass on. Basically we all have pretty much the same rep-giving powers now, no matter how high your post count or how much rep you accrue this will not allow you to massively influence the rep score board. I would prefer the rep scores to be there as an indicator for new users as to who gives good advice on the forum. If this isn't achieved with the tweaks I have made to the rep system then I will simply disable it.
A longer rant than intended as usual but hope this gives some explanation for my actions.
I await your neg rep!
Kind regards
Admin
The changes to the rep system have stopped some people, who dont have the balls to abuse others doing so now it is public but it has still not addressed the clique you mention either.
I feel the most sensible suggestion I have read on here, as much as it pains me to say it, is KP's, where she suggested a LIKE buttons for posts (maybe change the word to good, so hopefully one wouldnt be sued by FB ).
This would let a poster know what contributions are welcome and encourage that behaviour moreso, without the negativity and abuse of using negative feedback for biker gang rejects on here to bully others.Comment
