        Abiding by a notice period.

Phew. Clientco is going to abide by the notice period in my contract.

The director in the UK told his new boss in the US that in the UK you cannot just fire contractors, you must abide by their notice period(a little white lie).

So I've got until the 4th May on this contract. In addition, if I find something else in between they will just release me if I ask. In the meantime I've received a follow up email from an ex-boss & good mate to say he's taking a new job as a VP at a rapidly expanding UK software company, is putting a new team together from scratch and to meet up on the 27th April.

        Bit of a result.

Some good news there - and good luck with finding somewhere else.

So you're back in now after being at home a week? Are they paying for the time you thought you were canned and are they making you do any work?

I went on vacation last week, so no, not paid for that. I'll get paid up until the 4th May. Got some stuff to do until Wednesday & have been asked to help out with some of the other projects going on, but that's it. Bit scrappy. But gives me time to look for something else and if I find something I've been told I can just up sticks & go. On the flip side another internal project may come along & I get first refusal.

              Been quite good considering.

No-one is allowed to engage on the project, except me. I have not been given any instructions to stop and I'm still getting paid. By the end of this week I will need to stop as I cannot do anything else as I am not allowed to interact with anyone in any other team.

Even if the project does get a go ahead now it will miss it's deadline anyway.

I've decided to take next week off anyway now.

Anyone else had a 'it's on / it's off' situation because I never have.
Yes... HP spent 4 months getting all the statements of work in place and P.O's signed of by six lines of management. Then canceled me and 3 of my colleagues a day before we were due to start. They had already put us on two weeks leave prior to this assuring us we would start and actually asking a that one of the guys hand his notice into his permanent job... It was US interference in the end (they had waded in trying to save their end of year figures, and were doing all sorts of stupid short sited things...)

Im guessing your are working with them too. Idiots!

2.5 hours to go & an email drops into my folder.

The 'project is definitely' go, the final sign off will be at the end of the day in the US today, so you will be needed, we're going to ring aound to all of the resource.

So that's taken an extra 8 weeks, they terminated everyone a few weeks ago sending them home immediately(apart from myself who they were forced to invoke my notice period).

I have an interview Monday which I am certain I will get(and told them so). I also have a large barrel I can bend them over.

MF, if you get the new gig can't you hire SY as your sub on the current gig? Sounds like his kind of place...
