Wasn't a great point admittedly. As others have said you can go north 10 stops on tube and south 10 stops and that's classes as the same geographic region- because ur journey hasn't changed "materially" and the cost is the same.

My point was driving north 10 miles has the same cost as driving south 10 miles. So why should cost be an indicator when it's London but not everywhere else.

I thought the indicator was the journey had to change 'substantially'. I don't ever remember reading it changing 'materially'.

We had a huge thread on a poster who's location changed by a mile or less yet could use a completely different mode of transport to get there which cost a considerable amount more (or less I can't remember) and we had handbags as to whether that re-set the clock, which I think we agreed in the end it didn't.

Earning loads at first might be interesting - but trust me - that guy called "boredom" is terrible
Going back onto the thread topic......I agree with this I have been climbing the walls in some contracts with boredom.

Like you say at first you think 'at least I'm earning' 'Think of the money' 'It could be worse' 'Easy Money'...etc etc but then I just realise what a waste of my time it is when then yet again I'm sat for most of the day trying to 'look busy' which drives me crazy, I can think of many many other things I could be doing that needs to be done at home that could be much more productive.

I will hang in there for a while thinking of the money but if it goes on and on I would be looking to get out.

          Two points to consider:

          1. only change for a better situation. Some things you don't know in advance, like whether work is interesting so hedge that with a higher rate perhaps? I.e. do not change to unpaid or lower paid work unless you know 100% you'll enjoy it more.
          2. I've always been in contract work due to ability to experience a lot of jobs, many different company cultures etc. Having the experience now, it's think it's the same old everywhere. Sure you'll enjoy more after you switch initially, but eventually you'll get bored anyway.

Still if you have interesting to switch to, go ahead.

            A lot.

her journey is largely unaltered and the price of her ticket does not change.

Just because it is quoted in a sentence doesn't go to say it is a key factor. It says 'her' in it as well. Does that mean it is different because it is a woman?

Get an expensive hobby you couldn't otherwise afford - learn to fly, visit Michelin restaurants around the world, buy a track car - something that you're working FOR.
