Food to eat the night before an operation

Tomorrow I go in for my shoulder surgery. Im going to be operated on for around 2hrs.

As Im nil by mouth from midnight tonight, what should I have for my tea (dinner for the Southerners...) tonight? Do people fart and stuff whille under a general anaesthetic?

Had a knee op recently; was my first time so was careful what I ate the day before as I didn't know how I was going to react.

I read somewhere that it's wise to avoid anything too spicy or fatty so I stuck with pasta, fruit & black coffee the day before.

Be careful what you eat afterwards thought. I was starving & ate a dominos pizza and about a gallon of coke. I didn't get off the bog for the next 5 hours.

All operations carry a risk. I'd probably try to balance out the risk of the operation by eating a menu consisting of:

• Fugu
• San Nak Ji
• Cassava
• Giant Bullfrog
• Ackee Fruit
• Silver-stripe Baasop
• Echizen Jellyfish

If you survive that the operation should be a doddle.
