That chap who got beheaded in Iran was North West too wasn't he? Liverpool?

I would call them facts myself.
On a positive note, no terrorists or rescuers were killed.

War kills innocents, and professional men sent out there to kill. The balance would be to put up the numbers of locals killed as well, but we'll never see that, just our poor sqauddies who are out their being paid to kill people.

Sorry, but I think there should be a balance.
          Quite,
I thought you would be pleased that your balance has been redressed. I take it you dont have children of your own?

The report I read said two terrorists were killed during the 7 hour firefight.

            Agile not used here.

It is. These jobs are starting to offer big biccys and people are starting to rule out the risk, as work is tight for some. I get it, but jesus, there's got to be a stage where you think is it really worth it, just for a what is just a few quid? I value my life an awful lot more than a 6 monther at 1k a day. Some don't, and I don't get that. I'd rather be unemployed and see my kids all day, than dead having earned 100k

No, never pleased with death, never, but too much, imo, attention gets paid to the soldiers being paid to be over there killing people. Do you know how many people have died, non combatants? Do you know how many combatants have been killed? We seemingly applaud their death, as we have been sold the story our streets wouldn't be safer, where the truth is, its probably made them less safe, and to boot, we've all been sold all the extra powers to the police and state are there for our safety.

Sometimes we're all stupid buying all that tulip.

Lots of people die there, a lot of them the very people they are there 'protecting', and we don't seem to hear about them.

                I have 3 girls.

Most of the people being killed in Afghanistan are local people being killed by the Taliban. We are at war with the Taliban for the same reasons we went to war with Germany because we didnt want a society dominated by concentration camps

FTFY I think that ranks as one of the worst written replies I've ever read.

As for your mate 6k a month isn't much for the oil industry. Even the lowest person offshore isn't on much less than that.

Most of the people being killed in Afghanistan are the local people, you have that spot on.

However, you have the peoples wrong. More people are killed by 'friendly' fire, than Soldiers have died. The Taliban do kill a lot of the folk too, but don't simply sweep the other reason under the carpet as it isn't convenient.

Professor Marc W. Herold of the University of New Hampshire estimated that in the 20-month period between October 7, 2001 and June 3, 2003, at least 3,100 to 3,600 civilians were directly killed by U.S.-led forces.

The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that 828 Afghan civilians had been killed by international-led military forces in 2008, accounting for 39% of the civilian deaths. Air-strikes accounted for the largest proportion of this number, 64%, with 552 civilians killed as a result of U.S./NATO airstrikes.

So, how many soldiers have died again?
