If engineers take the risks to go to some flea infested third world country where the cost of human life is next to nothing, why should the british government keep tabs on them ? In this instance, the british government has done what they can, no negotiations with some pisspoor terrorist, use the opportunity to get rid of some kidnappers and if in the entire operation the hostages were rescued it was a bonus. You need to get in to the mind of Churchill to understand these complex topics.

Not too sure where you get the Guardian from SB, unless, oh, that's right, it's a bit left of centre, whereas your Beano isn't...

              Glad we've sorted that out.

Those stats are actually from The UN mission monitoring the war in Afghanistan. But hey, what do they know.

Direct deaths - 9000, indirect deaths - 20000 All attributed to our boys in camo. Makes you proud hey SB? Now, let me know about that brain again?
We agree about warthat is something. What I am trying to shake out of you is not a google search on deaths but a definition of the morality of war. You seem to be against war and have a loathing of squaddies yet unable to logically argue why we should not be at war in Afghanistan.

It's not the army who made the decision to go in, it's the politicians. And the last time I checked the person who made the decision to go in was a civvie and the head of the armed forces is a little old German lady.
I haven't tagged this thread. If I had done I'd have used the "Guinea Pigs" tag.

It's not COD, they can't have a flawless operation all the time

It gives out the message to terrorists that we will come after you, so it might deter some

                      To Zoiderman (who negged me)

actually I haven't written tons of software. The software does however covers a few tasks everyone performs so its save to say a lot of people are subjected to it.
