Next big thing is Glasses with build in headsup display, worked at a big hardware company and they had a lot of R&D in this. You look at a product in a shop and immediately get prices in other shops and reviews.

Yes, stick it to the man by giving your money to Google and Microsoft. That'll show 'em.

Android's not really open-source anyway. Hence the existence of the Replicant project.

So it has a super HD resolution now? Great! can see that "Please install the latest flash" icon in great detail. If it had flash then it would be a no brainer. Surley the quad core and gfx can handle it now.

What is the best android tablet? Any good ones coming out soon?

Ah, yes, the traditional "Apple doesn't innovate" line. I presume you also argue that M. Cugnot's steam-powered tricycle was the actual innovation that has merely been copied since then by companies such as Porsche, BMW and Ferrari, none of whom have innovated at all but have merely tweaked the original concept.

BTW, how much money did Microsoft lose on the Tablet PC again? Making a device nobody wants because it's rubbish may be "creating a new paradigm" in a purely technical sense, but from a business perspective, making a product that's selling 10 to 15 million units per quarter from a standing start two years ago is the kind of innovation that counts.

Serverside rendering might be the way things end up, but it's certainly not ready for mainstream use in my area of interest yet.

As well as the inherent issue of lag, there's also the issue that decent 3D rendering still requires a semi-decent PC. 1 server can handle thousands of users on a website (you'd know the number better than me) but for fancy rendering, it's much closer to 1:1 which is a real issue, especially since you also need to allocate users to a server geographically near them.

I'll pass for now, if it takes off I'll be waiting.

                    I doubt it...

Some really good hardware out there, but in my opinion the Andriod OS is far too flakey, and has far too many crashes (wife has an ASUS Transformer).

I've been in IT for over 15 years and always hated the way that Apple forced you to use their software and their hardware. I also hated the marketing machine and often took the piss out of the fan boys.

However, last December, after having Windows & Android phones for years, I decided to try an iPhone 4s.

I have to say it is easily the best smart phone I have used, and the slogan 'It just works' is so true when compared to Windows and Android. The way Apple controls the software available for their hardware really makes sense when you see just how reliable it is.

I have ordered a new iPad and my Windows tablet (pile of tulip that it is) is currently on eBay...
