Apparently you can use a microwave and some sticky toffee pudding or something to measure the speed of light.

While doing some drilling in my kitchen, I plugged my cheap microwave into an extension lead without an earth.

When I then tried using it, the whole thing was distinctly, and almost painfully, tingly to the touch. So I imagine there's a fair bit of leakage.

Don't bother drying your clothes in the microwave, it doesn't work. They catch fire and are still wet when they come out...

I have been known to warm up my under crackers in the microwave on a cold day, works a treat!

As stated above, you need to take the turn table out or stop it turning. Then use anything that melts when cooking. Short burst in the micro wave should give a pattern of melted and not melted in stripes.
Speed = frequency × wavelength so measure distance from peak to peak and multiply by your ovens stated frequency and presto. (I think)
