Oi BP - I was going to do the great north swim in open water. My local swim club did it last year and said the training outside and in wetsuit was brutal.

I did the Great North Swim last year. Was an amazing experience. Practice in open water is essential although I would not describe it as brutal. Already signed up for it again this year.

Once you swim in open water you will hate getting back in the pool.
