Oi BP - I was going to do the great north swim in open water. My local swim club did it last year and said the training outside and in wetsuit was brutal.

I think I might give it a miss this yearComment

A bit of a problem with the training - I came off the bike going round a corner at 25mph. I stopped using the right side of my body. Knees, elbow & shoulder all bad - but I have pulled a muscle in the chest. I am okay while I am moving - but I suspect I am going to be very stiff in the morning.Comment

Cadence. Find yours and keep to it, your bike has gears for a reason.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostNow to start building up the cycling distance.

Edit: and do try to stay on the wheels - this is the only part of the bike supposed to interface with the road..."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment

Oddly enough the bike only did interface with the road via the wheels. I used myself to break the fall. And I lay there thinking "at least the bike is not damaged". And then I lay there thinking "Brill stop being a total cretin".Originally posted by Moscow Mule View Posttry to stay on the wheels - this is the only part of the bike supposed to interface with the road...

Today I cycled the iron man distance(112.5 miles) - took 9 hours. For sustinance I ate 8 mars bars and had 2 bottles of lucozade sport - which was all I had until dinner tonight.

My legs are stiff. But worse my perineum is damned sore now.Comment
