I was so freaked out by lake swimming I have entered a race. Only 1500m. Starts at 9am. At least it is the lake where I will do the 3.86km swim. There is a race for that - starts 10am. But I could not face it. At least I have 11 weeks to prepare.
Thanks again to all those who made donations - I am going to try to update my page more often with training progress.Comment

I just swam the big South-East swim (1500m) in 41 minutes. I came 12th - out of 12! Apparantely it was mostly good swimmers so my time was not so bad. At least it proves I can finish the iron man within qualification time as it has been on my mind.Comment

At times like this I was I was sasguru. Actually - I would rather be poor and merely a knob (instead of an obnoxious cretinous knob).Comment

Been swimming a few times recently. I keep a reasonable pace, but I have to stop for a rest every few lengths or so - not so easy in a lake! Been thinking about a triathlon - more 'soft girl' than 'iron man' distance though! Henley triathlon (pool swim) is in three weeks - not sure if that gives me enough time to get myself ready. Had good intentions of cycling yesterday, but ended up vegging most of the day. Today not looking much more promising...
I guess if I part with some cash and enter it would motivate me to get out there.Comment

I can't even claim I was the oldest one there - someone was 53.
And one was disabled! 2 missing fingers. He said someone at his club is faster - and they have no legs.
However, for your exercise, as I am sure you know the hardest part is getting going. Its a question of what motivates YOU. If spending money on kit does it - great. Some people like a training partner (I like to train alone). Personally I like a goal to work towards. Of course if you want to veg and are happy - then great. I get sluggish and tired.Comment

Though I appreciate it is quite extreme. EVERYONE calls me a loonie. Apart from sister-out-law's new boyfriend. He had just met her and I suppose thought he would get more sh4gs while being nice to her relatives.....Comment
