Wow! Really surreal thing happened to me today at present clientco.
Started a new contract before Christmas. All very good. Good rate. Nice colleagues. Interesting work etc
The hiring manager was really cool. Soft spoken fella, but very techie/knowledgeable!!! They had a Christmas do! Invited me along! It was all very nice.
Anyway, the hiring manager went off mid December for a long break. He was taking a month off in Asia. Really cool! I've travelled there!
Today though he popped back in. I say 'he'. I mean he is a 'he' right!!!
No. He! Robert, is now Rachel!
WTF!!!!!
There was a meeting with HR and we not have to call Robert, Rachel?!?!
Too weird for words!!!!
How do you handle this!!!!
By calling Rachel 'Rachel'.
Don't really need multiple choice on that one do we.
If thinking about your co-worker's genitals confuses you or offends you, simply stop thinking about your co-workers genitals.
Anyone remember 'Paddington Green'? A documentary about a number of oddball characters, the most memorable being Jackie, formerly Jason, who was a lovely and tragic girl working as a prostitute. Some of her punters knew her past, others didn't.
I personally knew one transsexual quite well when I was a teenager. It's certainly not a decision that is taken lightly. She believed she was a woman, who happened to have a man's body. Imagine (the men amongst you) if you grew breasts. You'd want rid of them. I guess it's the same if you have meat and two veg that just don't belong.
Wish her luck with her new life and hope things work out happily for her.
