    our expenses vs mp expenses

now that it is approaching the end of my first year running a limited, I couldn't help but notice the much stricter measures we seem to face compared to the expenses MP's can and have claimed..

I don't think I would dream of putting down a grapefruit bowl on the sheet

Is there any point to this post at all?

This is a professional part of the forum. For general chat, light hearted banter and utter crap use the other parts of the forums.

I can't see it. MP's do have strict guidelines that some of them decided to abuse. The result is many slapped hands, a couple of ruined careers and some of them sent to gaol. The same would happen to us if we abused the system. There is a slight question of how hard they would come down on us compared to MP's but that is so old and boring it is hardly worthy of discussion.

MPs don,t give a rats arse what they put through cause they know they will only get looked at occasionally and they only get a slap on the wrist anyway

Where as all contractors spend their day worrying about whether or not every claim they put through will be scrutinised down to the last meal receipt

            Christmas party receipt anyone

MPs are employees. We run businesses. The MPs' employer can set whatever expense policy it likes and allow them to claim for whatever they like. Then again, so can we. The difference is that MPs expenses definitely aren't a BIK, ours may be.

All these discsusions over contractors' expenses are because people really don't understand that it's about the BIK element, nothing else.
