Now there's a problem there old chum.

Email responses are not a problem. The content of the emails is the problem.

Example conversion dumbed down for the masses :

Suity : OK so are we all agreed that the screen colour should be light grey.

    Business : Sure ok.

Suity : Good, that's agreed then. Light grey.

Business : Now you say light grey, but I'm thinking mottled purple would be nice.

Suity : You just agreed to grey

Business : Yeah but I think unless we get mottled purple it will really detract from the value of the tool.

Suity : Mottled purple it is then.

    Weeks pass.

F Spec goes out with mottled purple in it.

    Review comment comes back

Business : Need to discuss the screen colour as mottled purple is so last year darlink.

Suity : This is a change request.

Business : Flouncy flouncy winge to PM.

Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

That can be whittled down to...

Business : Wouldn't it be nice if...

Churchill : Yep but it'll cost you time and money!

Your mistake was letting them change it from grey to purple in the first place:

Suity : You just agreed to grey
        should have been
Suity : You confirmed in writing that your requirement was grey. To deviate from that requirement at this stage would be a change request.
When the review comments come in with anything different, go back to the written confirmation you have of the requirement and reiterate that it's a change request.

        Isn't this common sense?

To you and me, yep but you have to remember that SY01 is a bedwetting, shandy drinking southern jessie!

F-Spec signed off, but not by client as they don't sign off specifications if you recall.

Dev environment over a month late (ClientCo's deliverable if you recall).

I was informed yesterday that the Dev environment was all ready!

Except, it's only 1 of the 2 servers we asked for. And only in the pre production lan. So the stuff in the dev lan never happened. So in essence only 1 of the 4 servers we asked for has been delivered.

Ho hum, it's enough for off shore to start developing at least.

Found out this morning that non of the tools have been added. It's just a plain old Windows 2008 server. Nothing else on it.

So I kindly pointed out that a development environment without any tools is just an environment.

ClientCo apparently have expected all along that the consultancy were installing the tools.

So it's taken over a month to deliver 1 out of 4 servers with no tools.

And this server is not on any AD group, and there is no administrator account.

I kindly pointed out that a development environment with no tools and no user access is just a brick.

Nobody cares Suity. There are much more interesting newbie posters than you in the other threads.

                Time to retire for you.

Mexican stand off. ClientCo refusing to accept responsiblity for building the environments.

I got hold of the contract between supplier and ClientCo. Yep indeedy, bang to rights ClientCo are supplying the environments.

Also I noted that they are supposed to attend all workshops and be available for all review stages.

What an utter bunch of cnuts.
