Nah. I've just finally upgraded to Win 7 at home from Win XP (around 10 years since original release), and it seems ok with all Aero tulip turned off and classic Win 2000 look - I can manage another 10 years with it

Reduced my Word/Excel usage massively due to ribbon, would have loved to get rid of Outlook 2010 as well but earlier versions can't handle amount of fan mail I get.

Any useful links on this for those of us too idle to search it out?

          Found something:

Build 2011: What Is WinRT, and Is Silverlight Dead?

Looks like Silverlight is binned, but everything else is still usable, including XAML so any mugs that bought into Silverlight have a migration path.

Not sure if the new approach will become popular, especially considering how easily they appear to have binned Silverlight, so nothing stopping them doing the same if this flops.

At least there's still the internet for those wanting to write apps but not be tied to a particular platform.

Same here. Oddly, although I have to pick it up myself at the station on the way to work, when I get off at the other end, having read it and left it on the seat there are usually a couple of guys on the station concourse handing them out to people who have just arrived.

There is usually a big stack in the main lobby of client co. offices as well.

I saw that article and I'm not 100% sure how accurate the viewpoint is.

What it seems to show is that there is a new development platform of Javascript which will allow you to create windows specific applications.

So 1) they are not going to be cross platform and will only work on Windows 8
                      2) its a dead dodo as why would you develop for Windows when if you target normal HTML5 everyone will be able to use it.
