So 1) they are not going to be cross platform and will only work on Windows 8
2) its a dead dodo as why would you develop for Windows when if you target normal HTML5 everyone will be able to use it.

It will be cross Windows 8+ platform - who else would support WinRT hooks in JavaScript?

It's complete and utter bull - after Vista tulip people (even me now) happy with Win 7, so they do another load of manure and expect developer to dedicate time into new API that is only supported on Win 8.

The Metrosexual GUI is optional, the normal W7 style GUI will still be available for mouse/keyboard lovers.

Looks like M$ are trying to bring the mobile interface to windows PCs to get more people buying apps that they can get a cut of, Apple style.

The more this fragmentation goes on the more people will turn to free alternatives. Who wants to have to pay several times for the same app they may use on their PC, tablet, and smartphone because they're all using different proprietary systems?

If only there was a cross-platform standard emerging that kept the apps free to use.

W7 is new Win XP - I'll be investing some money into OEM disks to make some spekulative profits on ebay when they discontinue it.
