Good idea. Buy up all the W7 licence futures and corner the market when everyone sees W8 and starts backing away from it, including M$.

      More Google developments

Looks like Google also want to emulate Microsoft's success with native client apps running in the brower.

Good timing, just as M$ decide to ditch Silvertulipe.

How I understand it from something I read a week or two ago is that you can fire up the traditional interface from with Meterosexual.

The more this fragmentation goes on the more people will turn to free alternatives. Who wants to have to pay several times for the same app they may use on their PC, tablet, and smartphone because they're all using different proprietary systems?
A repeat of the LP > cassette > CD > MP3/iTunes migration? I stopped at the CDs and won't buy an MP3 of something I already have (though might if I came across a good enough remix).

Ubuntu Unity, Gnome 3, KDE, the iOS-ification of OS X Lion. A lot of folks are expressing dissatisfaction with the latest so-called "advances".

I was trying out the new Ubuntu Unity scroll bars yesterday and although the obvious way to avoid them is via your mouse scrollwheel, the mouse wheel is nowhere near as fast as traditional scroll bars. I can't see an obvious way to turn the Unity crap off, either.

Or failing that, put both contracting rates and permie salaries up so that we can all afford the pricy proprietary stuff and proper support we used to have.

        Sigh.

Best idea. CDs can be ripped (for free and legally) at better quality than MP3 (e.g. FLAC or Apple Lossless) so worth having as a baseline for anything that emerges to replace MP3.

The other bonus with CDs is that they can be bought second hand.

I've been re-ripping my music into FLAC then converting to Apple Lossless for use on my iPod, now storage space is much cheaper than even a few years ago. Sounds noticeably better than the typical 192kbps MP3 of yesteryear that most of my collection was originally ripped into.

Can apparently switch it off to get back to W7 interface via a registry tweak, according to comment in following link:

Windows 8 is too difficult for me. I want something that just works, like Linux.

But if you're really too thick to use a real computer then maybe you should stick to consumer electronics.

Windows can be made as friendly as Linux. Just open up a command prompt then remove all the vowels from your keyboard.

                  "lnx ftw"

[Sorry command not recognised, linux is case sensitive.]

                  "Lnx FTW"

                  Yep, much easier to use.

Downloading as we speak, but off home now.

We'll see what it looks like tomorrow...
