Quite right. Churchill hasn't done anything even approaching requiring a ban or an infraction. "neg rep" is just something in the general day to day fisticuffs that makes this forum what it is.

Anyway, it was the reference to 3000 deaths as "They got a bloody nose on 11th September 2001" I found abhorrent. Still do. But if Churchill wishes to express a morally bankrupt opinion in an offensive manner, he's free to do so. No matter how ignorant and stupid it makes him look.

"911" has nothing to do with the number of people who died although their deaths are incredibly tragic. If you choose not to see the bigger picture then by all means carry on. We'll agree to disagree.

As for my original question about "911" becoming the US equivalent of the "Holocaust" card I think the response from NAT sums it up.

That's a risk you take when you wade in with crass, insensitive comments on a sensitive subject, however valid a point you have it needs to be expressed without alienating those you wish to communicate with.

Add in things like getting the date wrong and you can see why people might conclude that you are in fact stupid.

I did, but I chose to ignore the thread altogether as I was otherwise engaged in family activities and did have time to google for things that happened on the 9th.

The kids are back at school this week though, and i'm benched, hence the displacement activity when i should be working on plan Q.
