Icelanders have a completely different attitude to crime and putting people particularly those under 18 in prison than England and Wales, so your idea is complete absurd.

Fair enough, then purchase a long lease on an uninhabited area, and run the prison on that.

Icelanders could still make plenty selling fish and other supplies to the prison, and the convicts could have a healthy diet of pickled herrings every day.

We're told that isolated farms have to use migrant EE workers, as there aren't any local workers willing to pick potatoes and fruit etc.

Why not get some of these offenders in camps out in Norfolk or Lincolnshire, doing a decent day's work? I'd pay them too - not much, but enough to give them an incentive to actually do some work. Train them in stuff like hedgerow maintenance, basic horticulture too. But deny them the mobiles, playstations etc until they've shown some remorse.

That way the local farmers get labour without having to use the gangmasters importing more labour. We've got to spend money supervising these offenders if we send them to jail - where they'll learn criminal stuff no doubt. Why not supervise them in an area where they may be able to do some good?

Incidentally I wonder if it's a coincidence that this type of riot often sets off in the football close season. They seem the type of person who would normally get their excitement at a Chelsea-West Ham event.

Many of these scum wouldn't be able to afford to go to footaball (perhaps in the 80's but not these days).

I agree with using them in the fields. They may then begin to appreciate the work ethic and having to do some work to deserve some new trainers, etc.

Use the ****ers as bullet stoppers which may save the lives of one or two of the decent heros we have serving out in Afghanistan now.

Maybe after a year of seeing what its like to live in the real world where no one really gives a fu<k about you and if you do not get out of bed you starve then maybe they may have some respect for the communities they were bought up in.

Failing that shoot them - I'll pull the trigger if no one else has the balls.
