He was dull and contentious without even having the redeeming features of being humourous or original. His brief forays into sarcasm involved recycling other people's material, and he had even resorted to duplication in that.
One dimensional and mind-numbingly tedious really. We shall miss him about as much as we'd miss toothache.

I see and agree with your point to some extent. I suppose the difference with him was that he too insistent that the format and behaviours of "General" be radically altered to suit his agenda. A recipe for disaster really. It is far from perfect, but is not as bad as he was making out.
