D r o o o o o o o o o o o l !Originally posted by darmstadt View PostAs the contract has been extended for at least another year and other projects are looming I've been hinting at Frau D. that maybe I could buy the car which is in the dealer around the corner. So far the reply has been reasonably positive and going to pop around this weekend to give it another, thorough, looking over. I, though, am now in 2 minds as the doors are a pain especially in underground carparks (which is what we have) or multi-story...oh and its this car...Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

WHS.Originally posted by Sysman View PostI had a couple of well specced Audis that I bought at ~2 years old. I got substantially better trade-in prices than I would have done if I had spent the same money on newer Fords or Vauxhalls, plus London and back in a day (from Yorkshire) was doable without feeling the slightest bit tired.
I was looking at a new Ford, but ended up buying a 3 yr old higher specced car for the same price, but at better build quality. Still glad I did.Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

That reminds me of my trusty old Land Rover. I had a spare carburettor just for the MOT.Originally posted by zeitghostSince they brought in the emissions regs, except for one Datsun that had a catalytic converter & a carburettor, which makes it a pain to get through the mot apparently.
It helped that a neighbour was rather good with carburettors, and, come to it, anything on a Land Rover. He enjoyed it so much that he'd only charge a couple of pints for half a morning's work

the trick is to ask for a showroom registered car. technically its second hand, but mine for eg has 11 miles on the clock, and it was 3.5k cheaper.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostDammit, mines only diesel, no cruise control

the showrooms do this to fiddle the figures, they get the staff bonuses, keep their jobs, and the parent loses 3.5k. they aint @rsed are they ?

Really? I think the SLS is hideous. I know it's pretty nippy but for £150,000 or whatever it costs, I want something a bit prettier.Originally posted by Sysman View PostD r o o o o o o o o o o o l !Comment
