Is there anything more weak-minded and meaningless than having "faith"?

If you define aliens as intelligent non-human life-forms from other parts of the universe, yes of course I believe in their possibility, and perhaps even in their statistical probability.
I don't see why they would be supernatural though (i.e. not obey the laws of physics) and so far I have no evidence that any exist.

What I don't understand is why the non-believers care what the people of faith think?

I don't recall people of faith coming on here and posting about God and how athiests/non believers etc are all idiots so why is it ok for the non believers to do this?
You would have to go a long way CM, before you found anyone less religious than me, but calling people who have faith weak minded, meaningless or less intelligent is just wrong. I know if they tied me to a stake and set fire to it , I would be singing 'Praise de Lord Halleluja' before the smoke reached me. People who put themselves through things like that are not weak minded.

I don't care what people of faith think. Everyone should be free to believe whatever they want. The problem I have is when either group try to force their views on the other. In my experience, however, it's religious people who are more likely to try to make everyone live by their rules whether those people believe in them or not. I believe a mother should have the right to have an abortion if she feels it's the best option for her. I believe that a person should have the right to end their own life if they feel that is preferable to living. But in many countries around the world people are prevented from doing either or both of those because of religion. I don't see oppression from atheists against religious people, I see plenty of oppression from one religion against another.

God's a bit of a dick really... First he goes and knocks up someone else's wife then makes the poor bloke bring up the kid, the kid then repays him by doing nothing bar go on about how great his real dad is. "God the great", "god the merciful" and so on but did his mother see one penny of child support? And all this dross about "immaculate conception", it's just like something off a bad episode of the Jeremy Kyle show.

You believe in their possibility without a shred of evidence. Interesting. Hypocrit.

              .
I can tolerate some of what people believe in, I don't need to respect it. Unless you think all beliefs are equally valid.
What do you think of female circumcision, for example?
What about suicide bombing? These are examples of behaviours sanctioned by religious belief, that have occurred/occur in Britain.
              Do you respect them?

Because the former is murder of a baby and the latter is suicide.

In a civilised society we should forbid those things. Interesting to see that atheists allow the murder of babies and people to kill themselves. What a lovely society you have in mind for us.

Why do you struggle to use the word Islamic, and prefer to use the word religion instead?

You know, without even a shred of intention of being abusive as I'm in a very mellow mood today, I, as well as most others on here, can conclusively conclude, without any malice whatsoever, that you are incredibly stupid, Chico.
