Another one who resorts to insult generator websites to create personal attacks because they have limited mental capacity to argue their point.

So ignoring "your" insult, I re-read the thread, not sure why you think that would change what I would do in your situation. Again I would have paid the money, then started a process to find out what the best solution was. I also would have not posted personal family stuff on here.

I tried to use one of those insult generators but they all lacked a sense of proportion to describe you.

Glad you took my advice, unless I missed the post where you say you did this?. The point is you posted on here and had to ask random internet users first if you should pay, that alone is something I would never do. Now do us and your family a favour and refrain from posting drivel about your family, although in a way it gives us insight into why you are such a bedwetter.

Suity, not been to this topic for a while (stupidDutchHavingDecemberYear/ProjectEnds) I want to apologise for being blunt too. I sometimes grow weary of people pointing at the wrong targets (social workers = topic title, whereas the real subject is the crisis involving your beloved grandfather). I feel for you more than you know: I haven't spoken to my own mother for years (albeit for a slightly different reason, but ultimately, her selfishness), and I know I'd have given my left leg, right arm.. anything.. to have turned the clock back and done what I thought was the right thing for the two grandparents who raised me, when I still had time.

You have done everything you can and with a few children myself, I feel the strain you are under. I think your grandfather knows this; your young children take up your time and rightly so if you want to have a good relationship and raise them to be caring human beings, as you yourself are. Being senstive isn't a crime, no matter what some some trolls here think. Your children are learning about responsibility and compassion from you, even if you hadn't considered that.

But don't be too hard on your mother either - leave the doors open, if you can. Perhaps one day you will come to understand why she is acting as she is and it might not be something you've considered yet, with all of the extra time and cost burden thrust on you. In a way, she is grieving, and there is no one roadmap for grief.

If your grandfather is settled, half the battle is won I hope the social workers can impress on your mother how she should be sharing the financial burden with you, or find a way to help you.

My wife is a social worker, other end of the spectrum, child protection.

Think you'll find that a large proportion of social workers do the very best they can within the limits set by governement.

I always had this daft idea about family relations. I always thought that kids tried to be deliberately different from their parents, and then their kids would go the other way.

The net result being that we end up very like our grandparents. A sort of pendulum type thingy
