Time now to stick a fly in the ointment.

I know that the Ashes have been retained, and as the English we can take that as a victory, the series has not actually been won yet and it would be nice to see the first English series win in Australia since, what was it? 1987 I think.

But in the meantime, enjoy the coverage in the Australian press:

"It leaves Ricky Ponting with the dubious and unfortunate record of having lost three Ashes series."

        Not true. Not yet, anyway.

That is what Flower and Strauss will be impressing on the players right now.

In that way, they remind me of Alex Ferguson. Have a beer tonight, tomorrow we put it to bed and start preparing for the next game.

True, the Australians could level the series if they get their act together like the 3rd Test.

              Unlikely.

You can't turn sh!t into strawberry jam, polish a turd...etc.

Conditions suited us in Perth, you got complacent. Sydney will favour you more than it does us given we are without a world class spinner (amongst other things). England have improved a lot since the series last year and we have gone backwards.

Hopefully this series makes Cricket Australia make some changes and realise that we don't have the production line of stars we once had when Darren Lehman couldn't get a game. I fear we still have worse ahead.

Been out of contact for a bit, enjoying Christmas break with my kids.

Its been a fantastic game by England. As others have said, if it wasn't for the novelty pitch at Perth then I don't England would have lost that one.

England have outclassed Australia as a team (may be not as individuals) completely. I predicted 2-1 at the start to England, looks like I will lose that bet - I think England will win this one as well.

Nice to see the part time Aussie supporter only singing when he's winning. Soupy you've made yourself look like a complete c0ck in this thread.

                Anyway back to England's performance

To be fair, he was talking about going over for the Sydney Test so he could have been travelling over the last few days. I expect he'll be posting from the stands any second.
