The Australian commentators are getting all excited about their new batsman.

I guess that they have not had too much to get excited about all series.

They won't shut up about him.

      Today's Colonel's Question -

Should Khawaja have been selected earlier?

      The Australian Public say:

      Yes 89%
      No 11%

(That 11% will probably be the section of the population that have issues with a muslim playing for Australia) <DUCKS FOR COVER>

No, that 89% are the Springfield mob - they hadn't heard of him before last week!

            Arse.

I didn't realise there was an early start so missed the first wicket today.

There are definitely some more English people living in a nearby house judging by the shouts I hear whenever a wicket falls.

Not a bad start from England, quite possible for a third England win in this series which will be a novelty.

No point wondering where soupy is, he's probably being "big league" in some betting environment. Fair weather supporters are a bit sad.

                Oh Dear.

The Australian TV coverage is trying to provide some comfort by trotting out memories of the last time England toured Australia.

They have got Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath out in the centre during the Tea Break and they have shown montages of the last time England played in Sydney reminding the public of the great players that they used to have like Justin Langer.

Well, woke up to England batting and thought that was very good, but the Aussies tail enders getting 90+ seemed to have fun.

I think the match favours England but it is still quite close. The Aussies have a morning session like England did it could be even after the 1st innings.

                  Come on England!

Soupy - no comments on what sounds like a good even match?

This could go Australia's way. They got 80 more than they should have, so instead of England being in the lead already, there are doubts we'll get a lead at all. And we'll have to bat last on a deteriorating pitch.

I hate it when the fielding side tries to farm the strike - it rarely works. That's a first minus to Strauss.

                      C'mon Jimmmmmmeeeeeeeeyyyy.

Start battering 'em. Then we can get some proper runs on the board...
