And is there really point arguing over personal choice? That is what it is at the end of the day.

And while the religious types may have had a very long history of preaching to the masses the anti-religion (and I do not mean atheists in that) have certainly had the whip hand of late.

That Dawkins chap just sounds like a right whinging arsehole who needs a good kick in the stones.

The big difference is that Dawkins is only talking, not imposing. Compare that to recent pronouncements by Catholics and others, they want to impose.

Atheists generally argue for a secular society that does not prevent religious practices apart from those that affect others in a significant way. The religious lobby continuously for their rules to be imposed on others, check out some Christian/Islamic websites and follow some links.

Where they are actually in charge of making laws they interfere in private matters, homosexuality, abortion, contraception, adultery etc etc that are none of their damn business.

You think atheists complain too much? Here's the deal. Just leave us alone and we'll be quite happy to shut up!

PS I don't ever recall being accosted in the high street by atheists or having them knocking on my door either.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.

Bollocks, the Catholic church does not have an advertising budget, Dawkins does.

So advertising is the same as imposing? Better buy some Daz next time you see their ad before the cops come round.

So as the Catholic church does not have a fund earmarked for advertising it never attempts to put its viewpoint?

Some of you people don't seem to understand English. Or have any grasp of anything much. Thats' what make a believer I suppose.

"Dawkins is only talking" was your claim

but in actual fact he has books, websites, TV programs, speaking tours and an advertising budget which to promote his views that there is no God.

He is just as imposing in his opinions on the public as pretty much all the main religions are.

He is as bad as Richard Branson in that "start a fight and make the monery come in"

If Dawkins and his clan are so sure and happy that there is no God why do they keep talking about God and reading books about him?

I don't think Dawkins reads many books about God for the same reason I don't read any books about elves and goblins.

He is passionate about his science and writes books on all sorts of subjects, especially evolution.
Yes he has to sell his book, but there is no suggestion that he doesn't believe what he said in the "God Delusion", every sentence of which I agree with.
Compared to the oceans of Catholic propaganda over the centuries, Dawklins is a mere droplet.

I would highkly recommend any of his books BTW - he's a great writer.

The faults of organised religion cannot be used to disprove the presence of 'A God'.

That is the question really is, is it not?

Well irrespective of what the question might have been, doubtless d000fus will be along shortly to illuminate the debate again.

I never read the first 10 pages of this, I take that it it was madness.
