That said, if the idea appeals to you, you'll probably want an Android tablet when they start being released (c1-2 months).

The HTC-google tablet seems to have died this month - but I'm looking forward to a Chrome / Android one (as long as it does Flash!)

Chrome seems like it could be the perfect OS, since it's all geared around the browser, and Google could probably do them cheaper than Apple since it's all subsidised by the amount of surfing and adverts that they get out there.

I'm not rushing, but will see what the competition offers - almost certainly if I do buy one it won't be an Apple one.

Some things online seem to indicate not, but since it's been "out" for a day, and won't be available for another 60 days, I'm not relying on online views from people that I don't know, or relying on how great Stephen Fry thinks it is.

If it needs iTunes (and looking at the Apple homepage it seems that you do), then I'm out anyway.

Is it just vapourware though, a concept that will never see the light of day? They've been teasing us with that for almost as long as Apple have.

I'm inclined to think it's MS's way of trying to divert some attention from Apple, much like they do with those Office 2020 vids to divert our attention from work.

I tried the chrome browser earlier but it instantly annoyed me as there was no easy way to turn all bookmarks to display icons only, google says edit each one and remove the descriptive text, feck that I've got about 30 of them. It's like Firefox not being able to open a new tab with your homepage without downloading an add-on not to mention the fact it seems to update itself and tell me about it once a week.

IE8 in comparison is marvellous IMO.

Saying all that I want Chrome and Android to do well though as we could do with a few worthy alternatives.
