The ink on Churchill's has only just dried and already we're going through this again. I blame immigrants for not giving us enough to talk about.

Personally - don't have one not for any other reason than I can't think of something I'd want to be adorned with forever and a part of my body that isn't likely to 'expand' with age and so distorting the image.

IMHO it's only a statement to people without a tat. People who have them don't care if someone else does or doesn't.

That "expand with age" is an idea. Lines in the correct form can create visual illusions, so with proper design of a tattoo maybe one could look less fat/saggy.

Soon enough, everyone will have to have a barcode tattoo on them, just in case you forget your mandatory ID card.

Now, where have I heard that idea before?

When I was a kid we would go to the circus and see the fat lady and the tatooed man. Nowadays I just have to go to the pub

              Overall, not a good look
Interesting that baldness is associated with toughness or thuggishness. I tend to agree that the association exists though. I've wondered in the past why men (especially high testosterone males) lose their hair to male pattern baldness. Presumably it's some kind of signal, though I don't know to which sex or why. Perhaps it shows you are old(ish) and have good genes to last this long, or have high testosterone levels, or perhaps it's just nature not giving a stuff about hair after a certain age. I don't think the answer is known.

Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

In times gone by, the opposite was true, long hair was a sign of male strength. Samson etc. the Spartans thought anyone with long, well groomed and oiled hair was dead hard, whilst the Persians were cropped and thought the Spartans were nancy-boys.
When I was a young buck, I had long hair and we were at a definate disadvantage with the skins, because they had something extra to grab hold of in a barney. Since then I have always been cropped and never wear any loose fitting clobber, the missus calls it 'my fighting gear'
