The Government’s recommended daily unit guidelines are up to 2-3 units for a woman and up to 3-4 units for a man. One unit is equivalent to 8g of alcohol. That’s about what you get in half a pint of a weak (4%) lager.Originally posted by SallyAnne View PostNo - more like wanting a Toblerone.
I couldn't tell you - I dont really know how to work it out.
Each week I might have: -
2 bottles of wine
3 pints of Guiness
7 vodka & diet cokes
Some weeks I dont have as much as that though. But I'll have a lot more this weekend
A whole pint of strong lager (5%) or cider contains three units. Two small (125ml) glasses of wine (12%) are another three units. Binge drinking as been defined as drinking double the daily recommended unit guidelines.
OMG Sally, it's been nice knowing you
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Bottle of wine = 6 units.
Pint = 2 units
Shorts = 1 Unit
Based on normal strengths / measures.
On this basis you are drinking *at least* 25 units of alchohol a week. Stronger wines/beers contain more. If you are drining doubles, obviously that doubles the intake as well. Health guidlines suggest 21 units a week is the maximum a healthy female should be drinking. Over 35 a week on a regular basis is considered harmfull. Over 50 and you are a potentially dependant."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

I understand people smoking as it's an addiction that you probably took up when young and stupid ( I know I did).
But getting blotto on a regular basis just seems to me to suggest that one's life is so crap that one needs to escape. Hence the phrase "...get out of it..." I suppose.
SA - heres a thought? What would happen if you didn't drink at all this weekend and did something more creative?Hard Brexit now!

Nothing like a great generalisation ...
Some people just like a drink, and find it fun. If you don't fine, but how come people who don't drink feel the need to lecture/pass judgement on those that do?Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith
